Cookie Policy

Last updated: 17 October 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Structera ("Structera", "we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on structera.co.uk and within the Structera application. It supplements our Privacy Policy and is written to comply with the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), the EU ePrivacy Directive 2002/58/EC, and the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (collectively, the "CCPA").

1. What is a cookie?

A cookie is a small text file that a website places on your device so the site can recognise you on a return visit, remember your preferences, keep you signed in, or analyse traffic. Modern browsers also support similar technologies that achieve the same purpose, including HTML5 local storage and session storage. For the purposes of this policy, we refer to all of these collectively as "cookies".

2. How we categorise cookies

We classify cookies into three categories, mirroring guidance from the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and the European Data Protection Board.

  • Strictly necessary. Required for the site to function — for example, keeping you signed in after you log in. Under PECR these do not require consent because they are essential to deliver a service you have requested.
  • Analytics. Help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. We do not currently set any analytics cookies. We measure visits with Plausible, which is cookieless: it stores nothing on your device and does not identify you, so it does not depend on this setting. If we add analytics cookies in future, they will only be activated for users who opt in via the cookie banner.
  • Marketing. Used to deliver advertising or measure ad effectiveness. We do not currently set any marketing cookies and have no plans to. If this changes, opt-in consent will be required.

3. The specific cookies and similar technologies we use

NameCategoryPurposeStorageLifetime
structera_tokenStrictly necessaryStores the JSON Web Token used to authenticate you against the Structera API after sign-in. Without it you would have to re-enter your password on every page.Browser localStorage (not a cookie sent to third parties)Cleared on sign-out, on idle timeout (15 minutes), or after the token expires (7 days), whichever is sooner.
structera_cookie_consentStrictly necessaryRecords your cookie-banner choices so we don't prompt you again on every page load. Holds a small JSON object with your accept / reject decisions per category.Browser localStorage12 months, or until you clear it manually.

We do not currently set any third-party cookies. If we add them in future (for example, embedded video or analytics), this table will be updated and your consent will be sought via the banner before they load.

4. How to manage your choices

4.1 The cookie banner

On your first visit, a banner asks you to accept all cookies, reject all non-essential cookies, or manage your choices per category. Your decision is remembered for 12 months and can be changed at any time using the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page.

4.2 Browser controls

Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and clear local storage. Doing so may affect your experience of the Service — most notably, it will sign you out and you'll need to log in again on your next visit. Manufacturer help pages:

4.3 Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control

We honour the "Global Privacy Control" (GPC) signal where we detect it. Because we do not sell or share personal data for cross-context behavioural advertising, the practical effect is limited — but for users in California, sending a GPC signal will be treated as a valid opt-out request under the CCPA.

5. Your rights

Your rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of any personal data linked to cookies are explained in our Privacy Policy. You can also lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), your local EU Data Protection Authority, or the relevant regulator in your jurisdiction.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised. Where the change materially expands what we collect, we will re-trigger the consent banner.
